The Basics

I didn’t plan it this way but it seems that I use a lot of different Basic languages. They each fill their specific purpose and do a good job at it.  It has been a nice run of over 10 years where the skill set of knowing VB helped me in a lot of different places. For example if you know VB then it was easy to program macros in Excel and Word. That same knowledge transfers to Access.   I was able to take modules that I wrote in VB and use them unchanged in things like Lotus Notes, because Lotuscript is very VB like. Microstation’s basic macro language was another product that my VB skills easily transfered to. Off the top of my head here are a few more Winstall, NSBasic, eMbedded Visual Basic, VB Dos, ASP, and VBScript.

On the right are links to some of the different Basic languages that I use.
