A responsive DirtTwister theme for Simple Machines Forum 2.1.x.
Open Admin > Configuration > Themes and Layout > Manage and Install.
Upload dirttwister-smf-theme_v1.1.0.zip, or install from the Themes/DirtTwister directory.
Preview the theme, then select it as the forum default when ready.
The theme is intentionally not activated automatically. This allows the existing forum theme to remain available while the new design is previewed.
The theme includes a generic motocross banner and rutted motocross background and applies DirtTwister's dark translucent panels, clay-orange accents, and responsive layout to SMF's standard templates.
The main site link is derived from the parent of SMF's configured forum URL, so it continues to work when the site is moved with the same directory structure.
Open Admin > Configuration > Themes and Layout > Theme Settings, select DirtTwister, and use these fields:
Logo image URL overrides the bundled generic motocross banner.
Background image URL overrides the bundled rutted background.
Site home URL overrides the automatically derived parent-site link.
Site home label changes the default Site Home text.
Board icon style switches among DirtTwister bulldozers, SMF's default icons, and a custom sprite URL.
Leaving the image and site-home fields blank uses the portable bundled defaults. A custom board icon sprite must follow SMF's 180 × 180 pixel retina layout: four 90 × 90 source cells displayed as unread, highlighted unread, read, and redirect icons.
Standard CSS and JavaScript are inherited from SMF's default theme. This keeps security, editor, upload, and interface fixes current when SMF is updated without duplicating those files in DirtTwister.
When installing by manually unzipping, ensure the theme's css/ and scripts/ directories are writable by the PHP/web-server account. Permissions of 775 are normally appropriate when the directories share the web-server group.
