Anyone know how ghosting works?

My computer was a disaster, so I formated the HD and reinstalled everything. But boy did that take a while... So I was wondering if anyone know how to create a image of your harddrive (a ghost?) so I dont have to go through the pain of updating windows from the start again, next time I want to format my HD...

Any help much appreicated.

If you get yourself a copy of Norton Ghost it's a snap.  You just need a second drive to save the ghost image to.  It can be either a seperate physical hard drive or just a seperate partition on one physical hard drive.  You can check it out at http://www.symantec.com/sabu/ghost/ghost_personal/

Seems like the program to use, although 70$, my wallet isn't that thick Guess I'll have to think about it...
