Personally, I am awful at skinning, because I have no initiative to learn it all.  I am just trying to make a point, there are people way better than you at it so either practice a crapload, or just leave the skinning to them.

Pastrana is quite a character. He ripped of Speedracers Star Wars skin and said he created him self. Then again, he claims he has created every skin himself. ::)
