Melton had covered the poor wood with hammered copper sheeting, and painted it cream with brown trim. Tusek operated the car on the 1954 A-A Rally, still showing Melton's monogram. (Article on Rally woes in Time, Sep. 20, 1954.) Kunkle did major body overhaul, and Hughes did complete restoration in the mid-1960s.
