Containment

This is a diagram of the containment building. The containment building is thick reinforced concrete. It's job is to ensure that there is no leakage of radioactive materials in the event of a failure of the reactor's cooling system.

The containment building is kept at a negative pressure so an airlock is required when personnel enter containment.

This is a picture of a containment building under construction. This picture shows the inner steel liner and then the many interlaced layers of thick steel rebar.

This is a closer view of some working on the rebar used during construction of the containment building.
