MCM1 National TRN Extractor

MCM1 TRN Extractor logo

The MCM1 National TRN Extractor is a standalone browser utility for reading Motocross Madness 1 national .trn files. It extracts the terrain displacement map and terrain texture from a compiled national track so they can be inspected, archived, or used as a starting point for rebuilding track source files.

The tool runs locally in the browser. Choose or drop a national .trn file into the extractor, and it will preview the recovered displacement and texture data before letting you download the generated files.

Beta utility

This extractor is still being tested against real MCM1 national tracks. Treat the output as a working recovery aid, verify results in your own toolchain, and report tracks that do not extract cleanly.

What It Extracts

  • 257 x 257 grayscale displacement TGA from the compiled national terrain.
  • 1024 x 1024 terrain texture TGA from the embedded track texture data.
  • Extraction notes with rebuild hints for Tga2Asc.exe and .ter values.

Workflow Notes

The extractor exposes base elevation, darkest editable gray, maxheight, and displacement orientation controls so you can tune the generated displacement map for follow-up conversion work. The suggested values are intended to help recover useful source data, but they are not a substitute for checking the result in your own terrain editor or compiler.
