MX Unleashed Resource Packs for MCM2

These downloads install into Motocross Madness 2. They support TwistedDIRT remakes of MX Unleashed tracks; they are not MX Unleashed PC patches.

Before installing any replacement, copy the original file outside the game folder and record its exact original name.

Required RES update

Download: TD_Res.zip
Contains: GLOBAL.res, Eco.res, TD_RES_Installation.txt

  1. Locate MCM2, historically C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Motocross Madness2 or a creator installation such as C:\MCM2.
  2. Open its RES subfolder.
  3. Back up Eco.res and Global.res.
  4. Extract both replacements into RES.

The extended files contain the original MCM2 content plus MXU-derived assets, so ordinary MCM2 tracks should remain usable.

Optional start-gate RES

Contains: MODELS.res and two instruction files

This replaces the stock MCM2 Supercross starting gate globally with an MXU-style gate.

  1. Back up RES\MODELS.res.
  2. Extract the replacement into RES.
  3. Restore the stock file whenever another tool rejects or misreads the modified resource.

The archive warns that Dillo Too 0.97 beta 2 cannot run with this file. Forum confirmation says the public 0.97 release added support.

Optional load screens

Back up the two files in MCM2's UI folder, then extract the replacements there. To remove them, delete the replacements and restore the originals. These are cosmetic and are not required for track compatibility.

MXU ecosystem definitions

Contains: MXU_nat01.est through MXU_nat22.est

The EST set supplies the tree/ecosystem definitions used by MXU remake projects. There is no packaged readme. Use it with the required extended Eco.res/Global.res and Dillo Too 0.97 or newer. Keep the files together and choose the definition corresponding to the remake rather than treating the numbering as interchangeable styles.

Recovery checklist

If MCM2 or an editor stops loading:

  1. Close all MCM2 tools.
  2. Restore original MODELS.res, Eco.res, and Global.res.
  3. Confirm stock MCM2 starts.
  4. Reinstall only the required TD_Res pair and test.
  5. Add the optional gate and load screens one group at a time.
